Playa del Carmen - The heart of the Mayan Riviera!
Great Scuba Honeymoon!

Lots of fun for your non-diving family or friends!

For that perfect scuba honeymoon! Try cave diving, or ferry just across the water to Cozumel for some of the greatest scuba diving in the world!

Your honeymoon is the perfect time to try something you've always dreamed about. You will not only experience an adventure but you will have the perfect person to share it with. Start with a destination wedding on the beach and a reception in one of the fabulous hotels. Then you and your new spouse can get fully certified for open water diving!

There are plenty of things in Playa for your non-diving spouse, kids, or friends to do while you are under the water. Fifth Avenue, only one block up from the beach, is the heart of Playa del Carmen. Closed to cars to form a pedestrian walkway, it invites you and your family to walk up and down its whole length to see all the shops, restaurants, and other attractions. Take photos of your kids holding giant iguanas or watch a Mariachi band from the shade of your restaurant table. Shop for the right souvenir, for clothes, or just refresh yourself with a cold beer or Margarita. There are restaurants of every type from local seafood places to Italian restaurants to elegant French bakeries.

Hundreds of eateries offer unique cocktails and appetizers, delicious deserts, and wonderful vegetarian, Mexican and Italian entrees.

Playa del Carmen has been discovered by discriminating travelers from around the world and has blossomed into a prime destination for both European and American tourists. The shops vary from small handicraft stores to upscale international chains and everything in between. The small size and safety of the town has made it a prime destination for Cancun tourists, only 45 minutes away.

Many world-famus attractions are a short drive from Playa del Carmen, including the Mayan Riviera's cultural and natural wonders. Amazing Mayan sites such as the Tulum Mayan ruins, the Coba Mayan ruins, and the famous Chichen Itza Mayan ruins are all a short distance from Playa del Carmen. Tour buses go out to the ruins every day. Diving and snorkeling are available at incredible eco parks which make Mexico's hidden natural beauty accessible to anyone.

Xcaret eco park and Xel-Ha are a short drive from Playa. Swim with dolphins and see amazing underwater life.

If you are looking for something a little adventureous on your honeymoon but you still want to be able to sit on the beach when you feel like it, then Playa del Carmen is the place to be!

The Playa has fabulous hotels right on the beach, with amazing views of the water. The two of you will love it! The town has a wide range of activities like tennis, snorkeling, glass bottom boat rides, sport fishing, scuba, snorkeling, shopping, shopping, and more shopping. However, the most impressive activity on the Mayan Riviera is the diving. Whether you are an experienced diver or just want to take your first dive, there are few places better to share with your non-diving spouse or friends.

If you decide that scuba diving is not for you, Playa del Carmen's many attractions are great for relaxing in the sun and taking the occasional dip in the ocean. Mayan ruins are a day-trip and Cancun is just up the road, although Playa's nightclubs are now giving them a run for their money.
